What information we collect
- Enquiries: if you phone or email us (for example about a table or a special event), we keep your name, contact details and the details of your enquiry so we can reply and arrange your booking or event.
- Online reservations: online bookings are made through OpenTable. When you book, OpenTable collects your details and shares them with us so we can manage your reservation. OpenTable handles your data under its own privacy policy and terms, including its cancellation and no-show policy.
- Website usage: if you allow statistics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website (such as which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors come from). This helps us improve the site. We do not use this to identify you personally.
- Technical data: like most websites, our web server records basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type for security and to keep the site running properly.
How and why we use your information
We use your information to respond to your enquiries, manage bookings and special events, and run and improve our website. Our lawful bases are:
- Contract – to take and manage your booking or event at your request;
- Legitimate interests – to reply to enquiries and keep our website secure and working;
- Consent – for statistics cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings on our website.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have asked us to.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with trusted providers who help us run our business, such as OpenTable (reservations), Google (website statistics, only with your consent) and our website hosting and IT support providers. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and booking information only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or booking, and for any period required by law (for example, for accounting records). Website statistics are kept in Google Analytics for no longer than 14 months.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies. Essential cookies are needed for the site to work; statistics cookies are only set if you agree to them. For full details of the cookies we use and how to change your choices, please see our Cookie Policy.
Links to other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as OpenTable, Google Maps, Facebook and Instagram. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, please contact us using the details above. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
